Harbor of Hope Student Ministry

Just a reminder that THIS WEEKEND is the Unplugged: Disconnect to Reconnect camping trip to Gunstock Mountain. We’ll be camping alongside 3 other churches and having an awesome time discussing how to unplug from our digital world and plug into the words that God is trying to speak into our hearts.
THIS THURSDAY IS THE DEADLINE!!! If you are interested in going, we have to have your waiver forms (we need those anyways) and $90 payment this Thursday at group. If you have any questions, contact John or Danielle.
Thanks!!!

Tonight we announced the official identity change of Harbor of Hope’s Student Ministry. Effective tonight, we are now known as SHIFT Student Ministry.
As Harbor grew, we began to see our youth group naturally grow both in the number of students and volunteer staff. God was doing amazing things - and we realized that the name “Underground” no longer fit the personality and rhythm of the group. We took some time praying and thinking, and further realized that this was the year to make the change.
A few weeks ago, Steve, Danielle, John, Elyse & Jon got together and brainstormed over some ideas that captured the essence of what it’s like to be a group of 12-18 year olds excitedly pursuing a relationship with Jesus. After much discussion, we landed on SHIFT.
Why SHIFT?
There are a couple of reasons. The first is that middle school & high school students are going through a lot of changes (or SHIFTS) in their/your lives. Changing schools, changing friends, your bodies are changing… you name it, there’s a change going on right now. If you think about it, there are very few things in the life of a student that aren’t in some sort of phase SHIFT.
The second - and larger - reason is that there is a lot that SHIFTs in our lives when we begin to pursue a relationship with Jesus. Our world view changes, how we approach our lives changes, how we interact with those around us changes… the list is endless. There is no greater SHIFT that occurs than when we take that step to recognize and accept Jesus as our leader & Savior.
In the coming weeks, you’ll see this change take full effect. It will take some time to get the word out, change the website, etc. - but it’s official! We are now SHIFTing our to our new identity!
The SHIFT Student Ministry staff is so excited to see what God does in our ministry this year and hope you’ll partner along with us. Get in touch with any of our leaders - Regular meetings start up again next week at 7:00 PM!
